Baby Car Seats

How do you choose between all of the baby car seats available on the market today? Well, a good way to start is by selecting between seats designed for your baby’s age, weight and stage like if they are an infant, toddler or preschooler. There are state laws concerning the use of baby car seats like the age and weight that the child must be in order to be kept in a car seat. As an infant you will need to select a car seat that can face the rear of the vehicle at least until they are one years old or twenty pounds or greater.

Remember, using a car seat is primarily for safety and then for comfort. Most parents will get a very sturdy car seat that can protect their child and will keep them facing the rear of the car at least until they are thirty pounds. Then as your child reaches the one year mark or weighs over 30 pounds then you can start shopping for a car seat that will handle them until they are over 60 pounds. These types of baby car seats should face forward and be very comfortable for your child because that will be their seat for the next few years.

There are so many types to choose from and so many attachments that can be purchased for them as well. Some of them will break down and become booster seats for older preschoolers who offer some extra form of safety and comfort. When you get your baby car seat, practice with the strap system until I’ts second nature to fasten it.
